2nd Valve: 2 valves in all of the BOYD Nordic Fiber waterbed mattresses allow for quick and easy draining (Includes a bubble burper for additional convenience).


4-Layer Reinforced Corners: Patented air cushion 4-layer reinforced corners that are exceptionally durable.

Air Chambers: Adjustable air chambers instead of non-conforming steel springs create a uniquely comfortable sleep surface. The air chambers sit on and are surrounded by high density foam, which keeps the edges from sagging and gives more support. Small tubes connect the air chambers to the air pump.


Bladder: The container in which liquid is store. In the case of a waterbed it is the part that holds the water inside the mattress.


California King: Size is 72 Inches By 84 Inches.


California Queen: Size is 60 By 84 Inches.

CK: Short for California King. Size is 72 Inches By 84 Inches.


Double: Also referred to as a Full. Size is 54 By 76 Inches>


Double Reinforced Corners: Adds durability to the corners of the water mattress.


Dual Mattress: Allows each side of the bed to be controlled and adjusted independently from the other.


Eastern King: Size is 76 Inches By 80 Inches.

EK: Short For Eastern King. Size is 76 Inches X 80 Inches.


Extra Lumbar Support: 1, 2 or 3 layers of additional hi-loft thermal bonded fiber in the mid- body section of the wave reduction system gives extra ergonomic support where you need it most.


Fiber Filled: Patented memory hi-loft thermal bonded fiber provides varying degrees of wave reduction.


Fabric Ticking: Boyd has upgraded many of there fabrics to Lyocell, imported from Europe. This stretchable absorbent material naturally dissipates moisture, which allows you to sleep in a dry, hygienic environment. Lyocell also allows the mattress to contour to the body much better than any damask ticking and is longer lasting and more durable.

Firm-Flex Foundations: A new stronger foundation for all of our foam mattresses that is more supportive and stronger than before, while still maintaining flexibility.


Full: Also referred to as a double. Size is 54 Inches By 76 Inches.


Hardside: Fiber Water Mattress: A Water Bed with a fiber layer/layers to control the amount of water movement.


Heat Resistant Bottom: The exclusive, “Thermavinyl” heat resistant black bottom keeps the mattress supple and resistant to hardening and cracking, especially when using a heater.


High Density Foam: An additional layer of high density foam beneath the lumbar foam region provides extra stabilization in the BOYD Regency Hydraulic Monarch waterbed mattress.

High Profile Mattresses: Many of the Boyd mattress designs have been enhanced to offer a higher profile to provide a better look and feel.


Hydraulic Chambers: Provides fully connected 6 chamber or 42 chamber wave reduction.


Insulation Mesh: A added layer of insulator mesh to help provide balanced support and reduce body impressions.


King: Size is 76 Inches X 80 Inches. Same as the Eastern King.

Latex Foam: Latex Foam will not support bacteria, mold, mildew, or fungus and is three times more resistant to dust mites than an ordinary innerspring mattress. Plus, latex is durable and hassle free. No squeaks or lumps, and it will easily bend to fit in any doorway or up any stairwell.


Lumbar Support Base: A newly patented tri-zoned support base in Boyd foam mattresses to give added support to the center third of the mattress where your body needs it the most.


Lyocell Cotton: Incredibly soft natural fiber cotton that is derived from uniquely processed wood pulp. It is extremely soft and comfortable, which makes it the perfect choice for a premium mattress cover. Dissipates moisture for a dry, hygienic sleep surface.


Medicote Cotton Fabric Ticking: This Boyd registered trademark stands for "Medical Cotton". The velour-like fabric is hypoallergenic, anti-microbial and has been specially treated to resist dust mites.


Patented Edge Support: No abrupt change from sleep surface to edge support. Boyd’s patented design makes the transition possible without sacrificing comfort or support.

Olympic Queen: Size is 66 Inches By 80 Inches.


Queen: Size is 60 Inches By 80 Inches.


QuiltFex Foam: Now quilted into the covers of many of the Boyd mattresses this foam combines the comfort of the highest grade of fiber with unparalleled durability to virtually eliminate body impressions. It replaces ordinary polyester fiber, which inevitably mats down over time leaving body impressions that reduce mattress comfort. Enhances the mattress by providing greater airflow under compression than fiber, and also dissipates 9 times the moisture up to 4 times faster than standard fiber.


Reflex Foam: A high performance foam. More durable and maintains its shape and firmness better than traditional HR Foam.

Regal Foam Top: A wave-less, top layer of convoluted foam, which provides extra comfort and support.


Resilitex Foam: Engineered Latex Foam, which offers the smooth, soft feel previously only associated with rubber latex. It is flame retardant and a recyclable foam. It has no order or allergens.


Response Foam: Made with a process which increases the foam firmness level at each progressive layer of the mattress and provides greater resilience the further the foam is compressed.


Sensus “Viscoelastic” (Memory Foam): A unique temperature sensitive, slow recovery foam system that relieves body pressure. Molds perfectly to the body’s shape and weight. Reduces pressure on the body’s main pressure points. Has a broader temperature range to increase the body’s comfort. Has a finer cell structure making it softer than other visco-elastic foam. It has three times longer memory then regular memory foams. Sensus outperforms existing visco-elastic products in consistency, quality, and shape conforming comfort.


Softside Mattress: Its exterior construction is the same as a conventional mattress, But the nonconforming steel innerspring coils or replaced with an advanced fluid suspension system which supports every contour of your body. All of the fluid suspension mattresses are adjustable. You simply increase or decrease the water level until you achieve the comfort level that is just right for you.

Stay Pure Fabrics: This sanitizing process provides protection from the growth of bacteria, mold, fungus, and dust mites that can cause disease and allergies.


Surface Modified Technology (SMT): A unique process that allows the creation of a single piece of foam with varying features and properties. Creates Tri-Zone support by sculpting out more or less foam from the surface. A much better quality product than convoluted foam. Sculpting out less foam in the center third, and in a different pattern from the head and foot sections. It keeps this area firmer where you need it most. The head and foot sections which have more foam extracted are not as dense as the lumbar region.


Super Single: Size is 48 Inches By 84 Inches.


Tethered: The four point memory stretch Tethering keeps the wave reduction system from bunching or shifting.

Twin: Size is 39 Inches By 75 Inches.


Tri-Zone Latex Foam Core: Has increased density in the lumbar region and provides more support where you need it most.


Vacuum Molded: The vacuum molded impression top sleep surface provides extra contoured comfort.


Virgin Vinyl: Vinyl, which is made from all new materials. No recycled products.


VPF Processing: It’s the patented, innovative, “Variable Pressure Foaming” manufacturing process that gives all the foams in the enhanced Boyd Specialty Sleep lineup additional strength
And performance characteristics you won’t find anywhere else. By producing foams in a vacuum chamber with constant atmospheric conditions, inconsistencies that fluctuations in barometric pressure, temperature, and humidity cause are eliminated. The result is you get foams that are much higher quality and much more consistent than foams produced by any other process.
